Lake Sam Rayburn Colors..Paste.. Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I have just returned from a fabulous few days at my buddy's lake house on Lake Sam Rayburn in southeast Texas.

Thanks Vicki, for having us all!

Wow! The morning and afternoon walks with my puppies were delightful, and the scenery was superb, so expect more beachscapes from me in the future.

This one is a long elongated format, a favorite of mine on which to paint.

It is done in pastels on Sennelier paper.
8" x 19.6" unframed.

$200 plus S/H

Prints are also available through Fine Art America:

Lilies..Floral Pastel...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

LILIES began with a watercolor throw in. Loose and with no pre-conceived notion of my subject at all.
After the colors all dried, I found I could work flowers into them. What a surprise..lol!

I think FLORALS are possibly the easiest subject for me to go with using this abstract throw in of wet media.

I had this photo of lilies from years ago and decided, with a few moderations, to let it guide me through this painting.

The substrate is UArt paper mounted onto acid free foamcore.
This image is 18" x 12" unframed
$280 Plus S/H

After The Rain...Pastel Landscape..Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

I have been just edging my way through some old demos half finished, and this one was a test to my 'gentle side' of painting. :))

I usually love bold and dramatic colors as you know,so this high key painting was a discipline for me.

I think I like it, and might do more in this vein.

The scene is here in Austin. I was on a walk with the puppies on the greenbelt in Lakeway, and we had just gotten caught in a small rain shower. The colors on the water were so romantic and soft. I knew I would have to paint it.
This image is in pastels on sanded paper and is 11.5" x 15.5" (unframed)

$150 plus S/H

Coconut Shadows..Pastel..Semi Abstracted...Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

Believe it or not this used to be horses. I decided I could do better, so I wiped it with alcohol and a rag and then splashed acrylics over the surface. The surface is a large Ampersand board by the way.

After my surface had dried, I worked my image into and over the marks, quite a challenge, but I think by now you all know how I love to challenge myself.

The photo reference was one I took on my recent trip to Maui.

This was great fun to do, although it took a while.

The size of this one is 24" x 36" unframed on board.

$450 plus S/H

Rising Heat... Landscape...Pastel...Texas Artist...Rae Andrews

Today I decided to get the old pastels out again for a while, so don't be surprised if you start seeing more posts such as this one.

This is actually an Australian landscape I took a photo of years ago, I think it was somewhere near Yass?

I taught workshops for years in the country areas of Australia, and this is a typical scene a lot of my Aussie followers will identify with.

I of course love to embellish my colors, and this image is no exception. However it is pretty close to the actual photo I took..

I have to admit (though) my sky is very much embellished, fun to sculpt the clouds, especially in pastels.

Enjoy..

This image is unframed.
It is  a 12.5" x 19.5" pastel on sanded paper.

Golden Splendor..Pastel..Semi Abstracted Landscape..Texas Artist..Rae Andrews

I began this one with a very bright random coverage of MAGENTA liquid acrylic on a TEXTURED board.
When this had dried, I drew a simple landscape and worked my pastels over the top of the magenta.
I like the bounce of colors in this one. It is almost completely covered with pastels, the acrylic is just a start.
More to come, hope you like it.

“Homestead” 6” x 9” Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

“Homestead”
6” x 9”
Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry
$125.00 + Shipping

This little painting is an amalgamation of several photos. The Colorado skies are magnificent, but I’m not always in the right place at the right time. The farm picture was taken from a distance as we were traveling along the freeway—no place to slip off the road for a photo, so it was taken as we moved—always interesting to see exactly what you’ve captured! The field was fallow, so I had to remember what it might have looked like after planting.

I used Wallis sanded paper as the ground with a hot pink and alcohol wash underneath, A mix of soft pastels completed the picture. This painting is double-matted and framed, ready for hanging.

“May Flowers” 5” x 7” Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

“May Flowers”
 5” x 7”
Original Pastel Painting
by
Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry
$85.00 + Shipping

This little painting is another of a series of paintings done from an early spring photo with leafless trees. I have had great fun envisioning this location in spring and summer regalia! This painting has a larger tree and more wildflowers blanketing the foreground.  I used Wallis sanded paper as the ground and a mix of soft pastels. This painting is matted and framed, ready for a small wall or in a larger grouping.

"April Showers" 4" x 6" Original Pastel Painting by Colorado Artist Margretta S. Perry

"April Showers"
4" x 6"
Original Pastel Painting
by Colorado Artist
Margretta S. Perry
$85.00 + Shipping
This little painting, and several others similar to it, grew out of a photo of bare trees in spring. I loved the tree skeletons and the shape of the meadows, so I started "seeing" them with leaves and flowers. It has been a very creative and humbling experience to flesh out these wonderful scenes. It has a 5"x7"companion piece called "May Flowers" which will be my next post.
This small painting is matted out and framed in a lovely curved wood frame. It would be perfect for a small space in a hallway or bath or in a grouping of other small paintings.
