"Winter Meditation" by Carolyn Jean Thompson

11 x 14 pastel on board
We used to live in Truckee, California where the elevation is 6,000 feet and snow can be very deep.  We loved to take a drive through our neighborhood and visit the creek that meandered through.  One day the sun broke out of the clouds and lit up the snow-encrusted willows by the stream.  I took many photographs and loved this scene and just had to paint it!
