Gloria J Zucaro's "Al Knits On"

12"h X 9"w   Pastel On Sanded Paper
$100.00 plus $10.00 S&H

Last year I went to The Clearing Folk Art School in Ellison Bay Wisconsin for a workshop with Frankie Johnson.  While there our group of painters met the two other groups taking workshops for the week.  One was a group of knitters, and one was a group of printmakers.  Al had come to the Clearing with his wife.  He told us when he had married his wife a few years earlier, he realized she was crazy about knitting and spent 90% of her time reading about it, shopping for it , knitting and taking workshops.  He figured if he wanted to spend much time with his wife he had better learn to participate in her obsession!

  2. Hi Christine, Well, it was fun for all the knitters, and for us,the painters on the last night of the workshop week. At The Clearing we finish our Friday work early so that we can clean up the studio and put our paintings in the windows on disply with our name tags. After dinner all three groups who where there that week have their projects displayed in the "schoolhouse" where we paint. We have a little program with a speaker from each group and give presents to our workshop instructors. We all get to walk around and see what all the knitters made in their week, what we painters accomplished, and we go down to the woodworking shop to see what the print makers did for the last 5 days. It is great fun. Afterward we go to the lodge and have home made cookies and punch. Sometimes we then play Mexican Dominoes or cards, or just listen, or maybe sing along when someone plays the piano. A great time is had by all!
