"Tawny Gold" by Carolyn Jean Thompson

9 x 12 pastel on La Carte paper
This painting was almost done en plein air.  Last January I walked a little park near home, took a photograph of the snow receding around the rabbit brush, went home and painted it.  (Little chilly for outdoor painting for me!)

This painting was accepted into the Pastel Society of the West Coast's 25th Annual International Open Exhibition "2011 Pastels USA".  The show is until June 19 at the Haggin Museum in Stockton, California.  It is a beautiful show and I am sooooo honored to be exhibiting in it along with Albert Handell, Kim Lordier, Terri Ford, William Hosner, Joe Mancusco, Andrew McDermott, Elizabeth Mowry, Waif Mullins, Tina Moore, and many other signature members!
